Thankfully, the forced formality and rigid etiquette of weddings of the past has largely disappeared and been replaced by wedding days where the bride, groom, their family and friends can get together to genuinely celebrate one of the outstanding events of their lives.

My contemporary wedding photography style reflects this change and though some traditional group shots are usually included much of the emphasis is on natural, un-posed pictures. With my long career as a fulltime photographer the technical side of the work is now second nature, freeing me to concentrate on the more creative aspects.

It is sometimes suggested that it is a good thing to have more than one professional wedding photographer covering your wedding. I would say that this simply doubles the chance that you and your guests will be aware of the photographers and feel uncomfortably self conscious so, to avoid this, I almost always work alone. To quote from a review of my work on Freeindex “On the day he did the formal shots with the minimum amount of fuss, but most of the time he was in the background taking photos without being noticed”

This sums up my approach, which is not to dominate your special day but to do all I can to help you enjoy it - working with you and your guests to produce not just “wedding photographs” but images that really capture the special atmosphere and romance of your own unique wedding day.
